Former V-League champion team changes coach to seek fortune in the First Division

Long An Club decided to replace the head coach by appointing Mr. Trịnh Văn Hậu in search of a turnaround during the difficult phase of the 2025/2026 National First Division.

Long An Club recently made a change on the coaching bench by appointing Mr. Trịnh Văn Hậu to the head coach position, replacing Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Linh. This change occurred before round 12 of the 2025/2026 National First Division season, amidst the team's struggles with performance.

Accordingly, Coach Trịnh Văn Hậu moved from Becamex TP.HCM Club to lead Long An. Meanwhile, Coach Nguyễn Ngọc Linh will step down to assume an assistant role in the coaching staff. This is seen as an adjustment to help the team improve its form and seek more positive results in the next phase of the season.

Previously, he led An Giang team in the First Division from 2015 to 2018, leaving a notable professional mark. After this period, he continued as an assistant at Saigon Club before moving to work at Becamex TP.HCM.

Taking over the "hot seat" at Long An marks Coach Trịnh Văn Hậu's return to the head coach role after a period as an assistant. With experience working in clubs in the Southeast region and understanding of Western football, Long An Club's leadership expects Mr. Hậu to help the team overcome its current difficult phase.

After 11 rounds in the 2025/2026 National First Division,Long An Club is ranked 10th out of 12 participating teams. The team has only secured 8 points with a record of 2 wins, 2 draws, and 7 losses. Long An's gap from the two teams below is only 2 and 4 points respectively, making their position on the standings not entirely safe.

Besides the change in the head coach position, Long An Club's coaching staff still includes familiar faces like former player Hoàng Nhật Nam and team leader Phan Văn Tài Em. Additionally, the team has technical director Nguyễn Văn Sỹ. In the upcoming round 12, Long An will visit PVF-CAND Youth's field on March 15, a match seen as an opportunity for the team to seek a turnaround under the new head coach.
