On March 8 Beijing time, according to Suns reporter Rankin, Dillon Brooks has apologized to the entire Suns team for his actions. Dillon was arrested early Friday local time for suspected drunk driving. Reports indicate Dillon's arrest was unrelated to alcohol, allegedly connected to marijuana, and he has been released without charges.

The police also released video of Dillon's arrest. Dillon was asked to blow into a portable alcohol tester, which showed a result of 0, indicating no alcohol in his system. Marijuana, like alcohol, can impair physical abilities, affecting fine motor skills and the capacity to operate a vehicle.

The police stated Dillon failed to maintain straight-line driving at least six times, and there was a smell resembling marijuana in his car. Dillon responded that he last used marijuana six months ago. While in the police car, Dillon argued that watching the police drive felt no different from his own driving state.
Dillon underwent surgery for a left-hand fracture repair at the end of February and will be reevaluated after 4-6 weeks.

“I really didn’t want to see him go through this, but he is human, we are all ordinary people,” Gillespie said. “We are no better than anyone else; everyone makes mistakes. He understands this, took responsibility proactively, and apologized to the team. We will support him. People make mistakes, we all do. The important thing is to learn from it. He is just more exposed to the spotlight than ordinary people. This happens every day, but you don’t hear about it because it’s not ‘Dillon Brooks.’”
Dillon, sidelined due to a hand fracture, attended the Suns game but did not speak to media. “I know he is very upset about this,” Grayson Allen said. “I believe he will speak when he feels ready. But our current focus is to perform well on the court while he is absent. We will hold things steady and wait for him to return.”
